How to get there
There is no road to Yelapa, so everyone arrives by boat. Ask about the last boat back before you order lunch. The village is lovely. Sleeping there by accident is less lovely.
| Route | Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Los Muertos pier (Zona Romántica) | About 55 minutes | Easiest; departures from late morning |
| Boca de Tomatlán | Shorter crossing | Take a bus south along Highway 200 first |
| Tour boat | Half or full day | Often combined with Los Arcos snorkelling |

What to do in Yelapa
- Relax on the main beach and eat grilled fish at a palapa.
- Walk to the waterfall near the village, around 20 to 30 minutes on foot.
- Hike further into the hills with a local guide to a larger waterfall.
- Try the pies sold by vendors on the beach, a Yelapa tradition.

Staying overnight
Yelapa has small guesthouses and cabins. Once the day boats leave, it’s very quiet. Some places have limited electricity or Wi-Fi.

- Wear shoes you can get wet; landings are often on the beach.
- The sea can be rough in the afternoon. Check the weather in the rainy season.
