Your options
PVR sits next to Marina Vallarta, so most hotels are 10 to 40 minutes away. The choice is price versus how tired you are. I would not hunt for a bargain at midnight with two suitcases.

Official airport taxis
The authorised taxi booths are in the public arrivals hall. Tell them your destination, pay and take a ticket to the driver. In October 2026, PuertoVallarta.net listed Aeromovil sedan rates of US$27 to Marina Vallarta, US$29 to the Hotel Zone, US$39 to downtown, the Zona Romántica and most of Nuevo Vallarta, and US$46 to the far south and north. Confirm the total at the booth before you pay.
The sales corridor
After customs you’ll walk through a corridor of desks offering “free” transport or tours. Many are timeshare sales pitches. If you don’t want one, walk straight through.
Uber and DiDi
App rides are usually cheaper. In October 2025 a federal judge granted Uber permission to pick up at the airport, but many riders still meet drivers across the pedestrian bridge. Open the app and follow its pickup point.
Across the bridge: taxis and buses
East of the terminal, a footbridge crosses the highway. On the airport side, buses head south toward the Hotel Zone, Centro and the Zona Romántica; across the bridge, buses run north toward Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías and beyond. The city fare is 11 MXN cash; buses to Nayarit charge more. There’s little room for big suitcases.
Pre-booked transfers
Book a private or shared transfer if you’re arriving late, have children or lots of bags, or are staying far north (Punta de Mita, Sayulita) or far south.
